BTS' j-hope & Becky G released their new collaboration 'Chicken Noodle Soup'

BTS is out with yet another collaboration, one of the septet's member j-hope & the Latin-American singer Becky G, on their new track 'Chicken Noodle Soup'. The duo teased the collaboration on Twitter on September 25th with Becky G tweeting, “Soooo… #BeckyHasAnotherSecret.” BTS' personal Twitter account replied with an ominous, “Hey @iambeckyg, I have a secret, too.. #CNS,” revealing a hint towards the song’s title.

The song was released the following day at 6PM KST and the BTS Army had already taken over social media as they couldn't stop talking about it. The song features Korean and Spanish lyrics and samples the chorus of the 2006 original by Webstar and Young AB, featuring AG aka The Voice of Harlem. The track is a remake of the 2006 hit by American producer DJ Webstar, featuring rappers Young B and Voice of Harlem. The track gained its instant popularity by paying tribute to the Harlem neighborhood's hip hop culture and also made its mark with the iconic ‘Chicken Dance’ in j-hope's version, the rapper swaps out some of the original English verses for self-written Korean ones, while Becky G adds a Spanish verse of her own, keeping the iconic refrain ‘Let it rain and clear it out’ and ‘Chicken noodle soup with a soda on the side’ intact. j-hope’s rap is mainly about how his drive and his love for dance led him to success, while Becky G takes pride in her Latin-American heritage, femininity, and rise to the top. The beat jumps between funk, soul and pop but maintains a powerful bass-heavy hip-hop beat running throughout. j-hope makes a final powerful mark on the entire track by adding his signature echoing background adlibs (prominent in many of BTS’ tracks.)

According to some, the secret in the Becky G and j-hope collaboration, in part spurred by the BTS rapper making a quick trip to Los Angeles last month during BTS’ long awaited vacation period and break from making any public appearances.

'Chicken Noodle Soup' instantly became one of the Top 5 worldwide trends on Twitter with over 1.60 million tweets. The track also shot to #1 US iTunes in just 2 hours. This is the fastest number one ever for a Korean artist on the US iTunes chart.

j-hope followed up the release of the video by dropping a clip of him doing the “Chicken Noodle Soup Challenge” on BTS’ newly-launched TikTok profile, urging fans to do the same, dubbing it the #CNSChallenge.

j-hope's bandmates V, Jungkook and Jimin also showed their version of #CNS Challenge on V Live appearance hosted by Jhope and on TikTok.
